“Edward taught me that being different is a beautiful thing and that people will always question your way of living.”
When people ask me what my favorite movie my answer is always Edward Scissorhands, hands down. No pun intended. Simply because, who doesn’t love Tim Burton and Johnny Depp? Secondly, that particular movie touches my heart because it talks about looking past the flaws and falling in love with the heart of a person and not the appearance. It’s almost a forbidden romance with a hint of goth to it as Burton usually displays. A few months ago the makeup company Sugarpill created this limited edition 25th anniversary Edward Scissorhands eye shadow palette.
This was honestly my first ever “big splurge” on a makeup item at the time. This palette retails for $36 and includes 6 fairly large rectangle pans of colors that are names after references to the movie. All Sugarpill cosmetics are vegan, cruelty-free, and hyper-pigmented. This palette combines dark romantic shades with sweet pastels to create the perfect fairytale mix. At first glance the packaging is absolutely GOREGEOUS. The shades are also a perfect complement to the packaging.
These shades include: Home sweet home, Ice Angel, The Inventor, Suburbia, Heart-Shaped Cookie, and Castle on the hill. Home Sweet Home is a matte pastel sky blue. Ice Angel is a matte white color with a blue-lavender iridescent reflect. The Inventor is a smokey, shimmer grey reminiscent of ash or charcoal. Suburbia is a pastel peach/orange shade that compliments well with the neutral creamy tan shade called heart shaped cookie. Heart shaped cookie is the prefect versatile blending shade. The last shade is a matte chocolate brown called castle on the hill. This shade almost looks like it has a hint of rust colored red.
First Impressions, yes it is much pigmented and very versatile for any look or combination and will look incredible on all skin tones. A little goes a long way with these shades as well. The texture is smooth and buttery and glides smoothly over the lids. I wish they were bringing this palette back because it’s one of my absolute favorites and completely worth it! However, you can now purchase the individual shades in small compacts currently on the Sugarpill cosmetics page.
